One Direction pranks fans by posing as wax statues

I'll be honest. I don't like boybands.

I grew up in the era when The Backstreet Boys, Westlife and half a dozen others were jamming up the airwaves, singing songs about love, and, uh...other subjects that I'm sure they sang about (that can't be all, right?). I secretly (well, maybe not so secretly) cheered to myself when one by one, they started to sink back into the obscurity they came from.

Which is why when One Direction rocketed onto the music scene, I rolled my eyes. "Oh, here we go," I thought to myself. "Here's yet another boyband with weird haircuts that won't last long."

I watched with interest, though, when One Direction decided to prank their fans by posing as wax statues, for UK gag show Surprise Surprise.

I may not be the biggest boyband fan, but I am a big fan of doing things "for the lulz". And any band (boy, girl, or otherwise) that has a good sense of humour in pranking their own fans has my respect too.

Although, let's be clear: I still find boybands terribly annoying. But then again, to be fair, I was never really in that demographic to begin with, was I?
