Hong Kong singer Sita Chan killed in car accident

Hong Kong singer Sita Chan, 26, was killed in a car crash in Yau Ma Tei early on Wednesday morning, April 17, 2013.

According to South China Morning Post, Sita was pulled unconscious from the wreckage of her Lexus after she had reportedly took a wrong turn and lost control of her car. She hit the right-hand curb, bounced back, and struck the road’s central divider.

The singer was preparing to return home around 2am on April 17 after a three hour long practice session with her music teacher.

Police investigations report that her death could have been a result of fatigue and low visibility from the thick fog late at night. Sita was rushed to the emergency room at Kwong Wah Hospital and was declared dead at 4.16am.

Her sudden death has come as a shock to many. "Her death is a great loss to the local music industry," TVB's deputy controller of external affairs Tsang Sing-ming said.

Sita debuted in 2011, winning the Best Newcomer Award at the Jade Solid Gold Best Ten Music Awards.

She released Crazy Love, her first EP and Let Me Find Love, her first studio album, in 2012.
