Korean pin-up idol Song Seung Heon wishes to turn back the clock

By Rachael Boon

Korean actor Song Seung Heon has ageing on his mind, perhaps due to his recent time-travel medical drama Dr Jin, which he was promoting in Singapore last week.

He is feeling his advancing years because his co-stars are younger than him, his fans are mothers who were once schoolgirls, and he misses his youth.

Song plays time-travelling neurosurgeon Jin Hyuk in Dr Jin, which premieres on Channel U on April 1, which he is here to promote, and in it, he stars with Park Min Young, 26, and K-pop idol Kim Jaejoong, 27.

He says: "When I see these young ones, I envy them. But they do tell me that they want to learn from me as well, and I also think there are lessons to be learnt from them."

While they may be only 10 years younger than Song, he makes it sound like 20, as he adds: "My dream is that, even as I grow older, I can retain a very cool image."

A majority of his fans have grown up with him.

"In 1996, I became an actor. Then, it was students who were chasing me, but now they are married and they come up to me as mothers with children, hence maybe it would seem like a lot of my fans are 'aunties'."

And the charming actor makes sure to add his thanks: "I will never forget them for supporting me all these years."
